Purchasing high quality resources is to assist in building your business is a fast track to success compared with trying to find everything out for free. Do yourself a favour and spend some money on your education… sooner the better!

HOSTING
I suggest clients and newcomers purchase their domain names from GoDaddy and elect to have them hosted at Hostgator. Hostgator has some great functionality in the background (C-Panel), particularly the ease with which you can install a WordPress blog. It is by far and away the best host to use if you are considering using WordPress (and you should) as your blogging platform.
